Located just 18 miles North of Chicago, Northbrook is a great place to work, shop, and raise a family.
First known as Shermerville when it
was incoporated in 1901, Northbrook has grown from a sleeply little village along the Chicago River
to the home of several large international corporations, including Crate & Barrel and Underwriter's Labs.
With a population of 32,960, Northbrook is 86.1% White, and 11.7% Asian, with Aftrican American and Hispanic
making up most of the rest. About 23% of the population is under 18, 22% are 65 and older, and 55% between 18
and 65.
From sun-up to sun-down, Northbrook has activities for adults and children alike. Whether it's hiking
or swimming, golfing or bowling, rock climbing or bike riding, Northbrook has it all. One
of the few official quarter-mile bike tracks left in the United States is in Northbrook. The Ed Rudolph
Velodrome hosts bike racing throughout the summer months, weather permitting.
